|Biography & Genealogy:||William Booth Foreman, Class of 1863: Born- March 15, 1840. Matriculated from Quincy, Florida. At VMI 1 year after entering as a 3d Classman (sophomore). Military Record: unofficial source says he attended the Georgia Military Institute before coming to VMI; served as a Drillmaster in Richmond during the spring of 1861; entered service for 1 year and elected 2d Lieutenant, Company C, 6th Florida on Jan. 11, 1862; extended enlistment for 3 years or war on Apr. 21, 1862; promoted to 1st Lieutenant on Aug. 14, 1862 (date of rank August 11); Wounded in Action (lost his right foot) on Sep. 20, 1863 at Chickamauga; end of service; paroled in Tallahassee, Florida on May 18, 1865. Post War Career: farmer, physician, public official; unofficial source says he studied medicine in Baltimore, MD; represented Gadsden County in Florida House of Representatives in 1893; superintendent of the Florida Insane asylum. Died- Nov. 10, 1913 in Jackson Country, Florida, where he is buried.|
