At VMI 2 years, 4 months; entered as a Third Classman (sophomore). Military Record: Drillmaster in Richmond during the spring of 1861. Appointed Lieutenant and Adjutant, 36th Virginia (date of rank Jan. 20, 1863); Seriously wounded in action (head) on Aug. 25, 1864. In hospital (Huguenot Springs) November 1864; Unofficial source says he acted as Adjutant, brigade of Brigadier General J. McCausland (VMI Class of 1857); Paroled May 31, 1865. Post War Career: Teacher, Bedford County; Lawyer, Henderson, KY 1868; Judge, Henderson, KY. Married Mary Atkinson. Episcopalian. Died- Nov. 17, 1904 in St. Louis, MO. |
