Civil War Record- Served as Drill Master while at VMI when the Corps of Cadets was stationed in Richmond in Spring of 1861; Joined the 12th NC Regiment (2nd NC Volunteers) as Drill Master June, 1861; Appointed Drill Master for the 24th NC Aug. - Sept. 1861; Resigned Oct 28, 1861, though an unofficial source claims he remained with the Regiment until Jan. 1863; Attended the University of Va. in 1863; Re-Enlisted Jan. 4, 1864 as Private in Col. J.S. Mosby's Regiment of the Va. Cavalry (43rd Battalion Va. Cavalry); Captured Feb. 18, 1864 in Fauquier Co. Va.; Held at Old Capitol Prison, D.C. and Ft. Delaware, De. until released on oath May 31, 1865. Careers: Farmer, School Trustee. Died- Dec. 30, 1917.
