Listed Oct. 8, 1861, as a 1st Lt., Orleans Blues (became Co. E, 20th La.). On Dec. 21, 1861, roll as enrolled for war at Camp Lewis, La., as 1st Lt., Co. G, 20th La. Appointed Adjutant, 20th La., on Feb. 18, 1862. Resigned July 8, 1862. Probably the Lt. R. R. Breeden, Adjutant, LtCol. S. Boyd's (9th) La. Battalion, "conspicious for daring devotion to duty" at Baton Rouge on Aug. 5, 1862. Enlisted Jan. 27, 1863, at Ft. Burton, La., for war as Pvt, Co. B, Crescent (24th La.) Regiment. July to August 1863, roll shows detached with Capt. P. S. Byrne, Post Assistant Quartermaster, Vermillionville (now Lafayette), La. Feb. 1864, report shows detailed with Provost Marshall, Alexandria, La. May 1864, return shows Assistant Post Adjutant, Natchitoches, La. May 1865, record shows 1st Lt. and ordnance officer for BG H.
