Listed Oct. 8, 1861, as a 1st Lt., Orleans Blues (became Co. E, 20th La.). On Dec. 21, 1861, roll as enrolled for war at Camp Lewis, La., as 1st Lt., Co. G, 20th La. Appointed Adjutant, 20th La., on Feb. 18, 1862. Resigned July 8, 1862. Probably the Lt. R. R. Breeden, Adjutant, LtCol. S. Boyd's (9th) La. Battalion, "conspicious for daring devotion to duty" at Baton Rouge on Aug. 5, 1862. Enlisted Jan. 27, 1863, at Ft. Burton, La., for war as Pvt, Co. B, Crescent (24th La.) Regiment. July to August 1863, roll shows detached with Capt. P. S. Byrne, Post Assistant Quartermaster, Vermillionville (now Lafayette), La.
