Biography & Genealogy: | Thomas Varland Richeson, Class of 1871: Born- ca. 1848 probably near Amherst Court House where he lived at the time he entered VMI. Father- Col. William Anthony Richeson; Mother- Mary Marmaduke Douglas. Pat. Grandfather- Jesse Richeson. Mat. Grandfather- Capt. John Douglas. No information on grandmothers. Married- 1st- Miss Rucker; 2nd- Miss Peters; 3rd- Miss Stinnett. We have no record of his wives first names, or whether or not he ever had any children. Entered VMI- Jan. 2, 1865, was stationed with the Corps of Cadets in Richmond during the Civil War. He was originally a member of the class of 1868, but was out of school for two years after the War and was placed in the Class of 1871 when he returned for the 1867-68 session. Dropped out of school with his parents' consent Sept. 16, 1869. Career- County Supervisor; Land Assessor; Farmer in Amelia Co. Va. Died- June 2, 1924 at his home in Amherst Co. Va.
