Grandfather- Isaac Winston; Pat. Grandmother- Lucy Coles. Mat. Grandfather- Thomas Wallace; Mat. Grandmother- Mary Hooe. His brother is Lucien Dad Winston, VMI Class of 1857. Never married, no children. Career: 1851-1853 Worked for U S Interior Department; 1856-1858 Indian Agent, Pottawatomie County, Kansas; ca. 1858 appointed US Marshal 1859-1861; appointed by President Buchanan as Consul to Jamaica - contracted cholera or yellow fever and went home; 1868 appointed Postmaster in Mitchells Station, Culpeper County VA. Died December 13, 1896 in Winston VA. He is buried in the cemetery at Mitchells Presbyterian Church in Mitchells VA. |
