Biography & Genealogy:	Walthall James Alexander, Class of 1862 (graduated 13 out of 35): Born- 1841. Matriculated from Raleigh, NC. At VMI 2 years. Military Record: Drill Master, Richmond spring-summer 1861 with NC troops. Probably the "James A. Walthall" who served as Adjutant, 11th NC (later 21st NC) at Manassas July 1861 and was praised for being "unremitting in ...[his] efforts to instruct the men in duties of which they had but little knowledge." Died- probably July 12, 1861.
