Biography & Genealogy: | Stafford Frederick McKee, Class of 1862 (graduated 15 out of 35): Born- January 24, 1842. Matriculated from Tuscaloosa, Al. At VMI 2 years. Military Record: Drill Master, Richmond spring 1861. Appointed Cadet July 12, 1861. In September ordered to join forces at Columbus, Kentucky and assigned as Drill Master, 4th Mississippi. Soon appointed Acting Adjutant of regiment. Captured at Ft Donelson. Held at Johnston's Island, Ohio. Exchanged September 1862. Appointed Lt and assigned to staff of Lt Gen J.C. Pemberton as Acting Assistant Adjutant General. Captured at Vicksburg. Ex-changed. Assigned to Army of Tennessee and served as Adjutant General officer on staffs of Brig Gens C.H. Stevens and W.H. Jackson. Severely wounded in action at Franklin. To hospital, Tuscaloosa, Al where he was captured and paroled May 18, 1865. Post War Career: Lived in St Louis, Missouri and Keokuk, Iowa before moving to Chattanooga, Tn. Banker. Died- December 9, 1920 in Chattanooga, Tn. |
