Appointed 2nd Lt, Infantry, Reserve Army CS July 19, 1861. Ordered to duty at camp of instruction, Savannah, Georgia December 10. Ordered to Charleston, South Carolina Arsenal May 1, 1862. Appointed Post Adjutant, Acting Assistant Quarter Master, and Acting Assistant Commisary of Subsistence at the arsenal August 22, 1862. At unknown date assigned to Capt F.L. Child's Company South Carolina Artillery (originally Capt C.S. Winder's Company; subsequently Company C, 15th [Maj J.J. Lucas's] Battalion South Carolina Heavy Artillery). Carried on rolls as on detached duty at Arsenal. To 1st Lt December 1, 1862 (date of rank November 8). Acting Ordnance Officer, Morris Island early 1863. On leave January-February 1864. Requested transfer to Virginia for more active duty February 1864. Ordered to Staunton May 14, 1864. No further record found. Unofficial source indicates captured at unknown date and place.
