Military Record: Drillmaster in Richmond from July to April, 1861; Elected Captain, Company C, 52d Virginia and entered service at Staunton on July 16, 1861; Wounded in Action (right arm)at McDowell; Selected to command his regiment in October, 1862; Mortally wounded in action in the pelvis during the battle of Fredericksburg while acting as Major of the regiment; Regarded as a highly competent officer. Died- Dec. 23, 1862 in Fredericksburg, VA (some records indicate date of birth was March 28, date of death was Dec. 24).|
