Children- 1- Gilmer Pryor; 2- Champe Peyton Pryor Terry, who married T.M. Terry; 3- Margaret Walker Pryor Callum, who married James Callum; 4- Katie Pryor. Entered VMI Aug. 18, 1845; Graduated July 4, 1848 standing 14 in a class of 24 Pre-War Career- Civil Engineer. Civil War Service- Entered service Nov. 13, 1861 at Camp Pemberton and elected 2nd Lt. of Co. C., 3rd Va. Regt. Adjutant of Regt. early 1862; Promoted to Capt. Apr. 27, 1862; To Major Sept. 24, 1862; In hospital in Richmond and Charlottesville Va. July 23- Aug 18, 1863; In July 1864 a board of officers reported that "Major Pryor has scarcely an equal as a drill officer" and praised his battlefield performance; Promoted to Lt. Col. Aug. 20, 1864; In hospital in Richmond, Va. Mar 20- Apr. 2 1865 with scabies; Signed Parole at his home in Nelson Co. Va. 12 May 1865. Post War Career- Chief Engineer in Charlottesville, Va. Died- Feb. 28, 1912. Buried Maplewood Cemetery, Charlottesville, Virginia; Division C, Block 5, Section 2.|
