|Biography & Genealogy:||Willcox James Westmore, Class of 1861: Born- August 3, 1838. Matriculated from Swingards, Va. At VMI 3 years (entered as a 5th year freshman). Military Record: Pre-war Corporal, Charles City Light Dragoons which became Company D 3rd Va Cavalry. Entered service with company May 18, 1861. Acting Adjutant, Ft Powhatan May 1861. Re-enlisted at Richmond for 3 years July 7, 1862. To 2nd Sgt. Absent sick August 1863. Mortally Wounded in action July 10 or 11, 1864 near Louisa Court House (Trevillan Raid) and died in hospital at Gordonsville. (Some records say killed in action). Died- June 21, 1864.|
