|Biography & Genealogy:||Taylor William Eyre Jr., Class of 1861 (graduated 8 out of 17): Born- November 22, 1841. Matriculated from Norfolk, Va. At VMI 3 years. Military Record: Drill Master, Richmond spring 1861. Commissioned 2nd Lt, PAV (on July-August 1861 roll) and attached to 16th Virginia as instructor. On March 5, 1862 list as member of 54th Va Militia. Enlisted March 10, 1862 at Sewell's Point ($50 bounty) as Private, Capt C.R. Grandy's Company Va Light Artillery (1st Company H, 16th Virginia; Norfolk Light Artillery Blues; company once part of 54th Militia). To Sgt 1862. In hospital (Charlottesville) March 1864 ("Fractura"). Unofficial source says disabled in railroad accident and unfit for further service. Post War Career: Farmer; capitalist. Died- November 26, 1918.|
