|Biography & Genealogy:||Wyatt Moseley Elliott. Class of 1842: Genealogy: Born Feb. 25, 1823, Campbell Co., VA; Parents- Thomas Elliott of Campbell Co., & Elizabeth Bondurant of Buckingham Co.; Maternal Grandparents- Robert Bondurant and Judy Moseley. Marriages (1st)- On September 7, 1847 to Marcia Perkins Moseley (d. August 22, 1885) of Campbell Co., daughter of Thomas Moseley and Jane Bondurant. They had three children- Horace, Ella, William Arthur. (2nd) In 1889 married Elizabeth Lewis Trent of Lynchburg; they had no children. VMI record: Entered VMI November 11, 1839 from Buckingham Court House, VA and graduated July 4, 1842, standing 7th in a class of 16. He held the highest rank in the Corps of Cadets--First Captain. A day after commencement, he co-founded the VMI Alumni Association and became its first president. Military Record: Captain, "Richmond Grays," 1847-1861, with which he entered Civil War service on 19 April 1861; Appointed Major, 25th Battalion Virginia Infantry (Richmond City Battalion) 16 August 1862; to Lt. Col. July 1863. Career: Pre-war- lawyer, editor; post-war - lawyer, politician/legislator (Virginia House of Delegates & Senate); Member VMI Board of Visitors, 1874-1875; Clerk, US Circuit and District Courts, Lynchburg, 1884-1897. Died- Feb. 25, 1897, Lynchburg, VA; buried Thomas Bondurant home, Buckingham, VA.|
